Bronte Kestrel is a handprinted linocut inspired by the kestrels that soar above the Bronte coastline. Capturing the grace and resilience of these coastal birds, this limited edition print (edition of 3) is carefully printed by hand on fine art paper. The bold contrast and intricate carving highlight the kestrel’s form against the open sky, evoking a sense of movement and freedom. Two UNFRAMED editions are available.
Linocut printing is a form of printmaking referred to as relief printing.
My process in creating a print starts with an illustration. I then transfer the illustration to the lino block.
The image is carved into the block using specialty carving tools.
The carving process is a detailed and time consuming process, and requires a high level of attention and patience.
The blocks are then inked with archival quality ink and printed on acid free archival quality printmaking paper.
After I have printed the linocut and allowed the ink to dry, I then add colour by hand.
Each sheet is hand torn to the required size. Your print will have two deckled edges and two hand torn edges.
Due to the nature of the handmade process, each print is unique and will have slight variations.
