Linocut Print - WARATAH
Linocut Print - WARATAH
This is an original hand printed image pulled from a hand carved lino block. It is an open edition print i.e. this is not a numbered limited edition.
All prints are signed, titled and numbered on the front side under the image. In this case the print is designated O/E for open edition.
Signed and stamped on the back.
Lino and block printing is a form of printmaking referred to as relief printing.
My process in creating a block print starts with an illustration.
I transfer the illustration to the carving block - rubber, lino, or vinyl.
The image is carved into the block using specialty carving tools.
The carving process is a detailed and time consuming process, and requires a high level of attention and patience.
The blocks are then inked with archival quality ink and printed on acid free archival quality specialty printmaking paper.
Due to the nature of the handmade process, each print is unique and will have slight variations.
